Abstract of Sri York

Sri York is located at Halaman York, 10450 Penang.

The building that was built in 1993 can be considered as one of the best, well maintained condominiums in this region. Though situated at heart of Gearge Town, it is like a garden in city. Its serene environment with birds singing in the garden, is isolated from usual city busyness and noise. The modern facility and outlook blend well with a heritage taste as Sri York is stone's throw away from the Suffolk House which was the former residence of Francis Light (the founder of British Colony of Penang and its capital George Town in 1786). The Suffolk House has since gone through phases of restorations into a nice and original heritage ambience. It's a place where visitors will throng when coming to visit the beautiful heritage city of Penang.

Sri York comprises of five low-rise blocks of five stories each, three high-rise blocks of fifteen stories each. There are 338 units in total, on freehold tenure, built over a large spacious land of 21,597 meter square. Yet, the most unique point of Sri York (that distinguished itself from others) is visitors never have needed to worry about shortage of visitor parking bay, much to thank the developer for their vision to build such a beaitiful and huge parking bay which is built at Linear Park right adjacent to Sri York. It has a compound as big as the Sri York premise with city council commited to up-keep it.

Well, for any new, nicely built condo of the same class to compare with Sri York; they will need to wait for 20 years, or even some of them need not wait that long to see the difference. The secret behind this well maintained environment lies with the seamless cooperation of the residence here which consists of a well mixed of nationalities and a strong and professional management team. Sri York is a  synonym for " Prestige"  and has carved a name for itself for taking good care to preserve this status!

History of Suffolk House

In Penang, the Suffolk House refers to two early residences built on the same site located some six km west of George Town, Penang, on the banks of the "Air Itam" River. The earliest of the two buildings is notable for serving as the residence of Francis Light, the founder of the British settlement on the Prince of Wales Island, commonly known as Penang Island. Following Light's death in 1794, newer Suffolk House replaced the original house, assuming multiple roles and was later neglected before its current restoration.

The mansion and the estate it was built on, the Suffolk Estate, is presumably named after Suffolk county in England. Francis was born in Dallinghoo, Suffolk in East Anglia. And, Sri York Condo was built along the river just acrossed the bridge, which is stone throw away from the mansion.
